Be our guest at the GGEF 2018!

GO GLOBAL EDUCATION FAIR 2018

UStudy and Go USA Talent in Sports (GUTS) would like to cordially invite you to attend the GO Global Education Fair to be held in Hilversum and Amsterdam on September 22 and 23, 2018Our aim is that the Fair is seen as an inspiring, informative and rewarding event, not just for our visitors, but also for you. Your involvement is an integral part of this important event and we want to make sure that you have all the support you need and are well cared for.

Please note that your participation is free of charge, however registration as a participating exhibitor is required. To register, please fill our the form at the bottom of the page.

Why exhibit at the GO Global Education Fair?

Our exhibitors will meet and chat with approximately 1,000 visitors over two fair days. Our fairs attract a broad range of North American schools, from high and college prep schools, to specialized sport academies, community colleges, private liberal arts schools, and Ivy Leagues. Previous exhibitors have provided the following feedback about our fairs:

  • Well-organized
  • Clear communication
  • Great logistical support
  • The same, or more, number of visitors genuinely interested in their school than expected
  • Level of spoken English was high
  • Nice to speak to a lot of parents who were very interested and willing to be involved
  • “I was ‘perfectly busy’”
  • Good facility, nice refreshments (got to meet and chat with other staff)

Exhibitors are represented either by international student recruiters, or by Dutch alumni and/or their parents. We certainly welcome staff members to attend in person as it adds a personal face to the school, and there is no one better to answer questions from curious visitors. However, if schedules and/or budget does not allow this, we strongly encourage finding an alumnus representative. Our visitors respond well to a ‘peer’ who can share their personal experience and stories in their native language.

Why recruit in the Netherlands?

Dutch students are academically strong and possess an international outlook. Our effective and dynamic education system is accessible to all ability levels, teaches English as a second language starting at age 10, and produces top scorers on the TOEFL/IELTS worldwide. We also pride ourselves on strong transatlantic ties, not just historically, politically, and economically but also culturally. More than half a million Dutch tourists visit North America annually, making it the number one travel destination outside of Europe.

While the total number of international students at American institutions continues to decline, the number of Dutch students studying in the US steadily rises, and increased by 62 percent between 2006 and 2017 to over 2,500! The Dutch government and universities encourage students to gain educational experiences abroad and facilitates this by letting them secure government grants to obtain a college degree in the US or Canada. This makes US or Canadian study possible for all students!

ALUMNI REPRESENTATIVE

In the event you are unable to send a representative from your institution, please keep in mind alumni make great representatives!

If you are having trouble finding a representative, please let us know. We have a database with alumni, who we could ask to represent your institution at the GO Global Education Fair 2018. We have succesfully done so with past exhibitors and having local alumni worked particularly well for many exhibitors in terms of yield and supplying information to families.

TRAVELING BY CAR

If you come by car, you can park around the venue. Please note: parking spots close to the venues may be limited. There are plenty of car rental options at Schiphol Airport, including Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt, and Thrifty. Prices between the different car rental companies are quite competitive. Roads are well sign-posted and driving in the Netherlands is generally quite straightforward (just watch out for cyclists!)

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

The Netherlands has an excellent public transport system. Use the websites below to find out which train, bus, metro, or tram is recommended to travel to and from the fair. If you need help navigating while you are on your way: the attendees are usually very helpful and have a good level of English.

Useful websites for public transportation services in the Netherlands are:

Material should be received no later than September 16th 2018 – this to ensure that we have extra time to find a solution in case your package gets delayed. Please feel free to send your items well ahead of time and allow plenty of time for your packages to be delivered to the Netherlands (from past experience, we recommend allowing at least 3 weeks if sending packages using courier). We recommend 100 copies for each fair day (provide one copy per family).

Exhibitors should note that any materials left over at the end of the fairs will be sent for recycling. This is unfortunate, but necessary due to a lack of storage space. A few copies will be kept by UStudy and the venue for future reference, but we cannot return any materials your institution.

Please mail your packages to BOTH locations:

Where To Stay

We are often asked about recommendations for where to stay when exhibitors are coming to visit. Whilst we always try to be as helpful as possible, we’re hesitant to make specific suggestions as it really depends on which city you want to stay in, and what your budget is. Hopefully the links on this page can guide you to a variety of offerings that suit your personal preferences and travel budget.

We recommend finding accommodation in either of the cities of the fair, Amsterdam or Hilversum. It is only a 30 minute drive from door to door or a little over an hour if using public transport.

About Amsterdam

Although the seat of Netherlands government is in The Hague, Amsterdam is the nominal capital. It is the largest city in the Netherlands, but it is not a big city and all sites of interest are within an acceptable distance. There is a broad spectrum of attractions in Amsterdam, and in particular, many fascinating museums. This list of top 10 Amsterdam attractions may be useful for you. Amsterdam, despite its stereotypical reputation for hash bars (‘coffee shops’) and the Red Light District, is actually a beautiful city and very walkable.

About Hilversum

Hilversum is often called “media city,” since it is the principal centre for radio and television broadcasting in the Netherlands, and is home to an extensive complex of radio and television studios and to the administrative headquarters of the multiple broadcasting organizations which make up the Netherlands Public Broadcasting system.

Hilversum is the largest urban centre in the area. It is surrounded by beautiful woods, meadows, lakes, and smaller towns. Hilversum is part of the Randstad, one of the largest conurbations in Europe and it has a great public transportation network. Located close to larger cities, such as Amsterdam (24 km/15 mi) and Utrecht (15 km/9.3 mi), it is a great location for those who wish to enjoy a city trip while spending time in a quieter area.
